The vision for South Eastern Play & Creative Therapies came from a great need in the community for therapeutic services that could support the mental health needs of children and young people that find it hard to engage in more talk based therapy. Talking therapies are often not appropriate for children as the part of the brain that develops language and rational thought is not fully developed at this age. Even for some adolescents and adults it can be very difficult to translate feelings into words.

South Eastern Play & Creative Therapies is a team of independent Play Therapists and Creative Arts Therapists. Our aim is to provide accessible, high quality therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families utilising play and expressive arts-based practice. We are passionate about offering therapeutic services that are developmentally sensitive, relationship focused and integrating a range of therapeutic modalities to meet the individual needs of the client. This means that we consider the developmental stage of the child or young person rather than their chronological age. At South Eastern Play & Creative Therapies we believe that the child or young person functions as part of a broader system which could include the family, peers, school, and other professional services involved. Some of the best therapeutic outcomes come from working with the whole system, particularly, the family. We offer a range of parent education and support programs.
